Four informative and valuable presentations for your
Administrators, Staff, Faculty and Students.
“Dealing with Disruptive and Aggressive Behavior in the Classroom”
Offered as a two or three hour seminar
Covers five basic principles:
Identify - Prepare - Predict - Control - React
Specifically developed for school administrators and faculty, this seminar covers five basic principles: identify the behavior, prepare for the behavior, predict the behavior, control the behavior and react to the behavior.
Various types of disruptive and aggressive behavior are analyzed and categorized. Examples include disrespectful and insubordinate behavior, belligerence, cell phones and sideline conversations. We also explore the various reasons these behaviors occur.
Preparing for disruptive and aggressive behavior starts with drafting and initiating clear, concise and realistic policies. We discuss the policies that need to be in place and address classroom design and management strategies.
Predicting unwanted behavior takes into account the school setting, the student body, stress factors, outside influences, and current events. Group and individual dynamics are analyzed.
Verbal judo techniques are taught to maintain control over a situation. The use of current technology in the school and classroom will also be explored as a way to control unwanted behavior.
The reaction of the school should be in line with their prepared policies. Participants are taught verbal and physical responses to aggression, and what reactions to expect from support personnel including police and medical responders.
Audience participation exercises and scenarios are used to emphasize key points
